This course in Digital Photography is designed to develop your skills in pixel based photographic design. Film-less photography and printing has finally become an affordable reality. Cameras, inks, and paper have evolved to a level that rival traditional continuous tone photographic quality. Digital based photography offers many of the powerful controls used by photographic artists of the past and many newer ones that we never available to them. Adobe Photoshop 7 and PhotoShop CS have become the “do-all / end-all” for digital artists. We will touch on using this program as we output photographs for critique.

This course is an advanced version of Digital Photograhy 1 and develops additional skills in advanced camera operation and techniques. More emphasis is placed on lighting control, and the devices used to properly assert these techniques. We will also train students in some of the more advanced features of PhotoShop and how it applys to retouching and output of images.

This course in Portrait Photography is designed to develop your skills in pixel based photographic design of people and groups. The goal is educate, inform, and prepare each student to face challenges as they relate to the creation of exceptional portraits of people and groups in many of the situations photographers meet on a regular basis.
This class in Creative Portraiture is a seminar, workshop, individual practice and research educational experience. The foregoing makes student participation a role of substance and significance. Assignments include actual praticies in producing complete portrait projects.

This course presents a solid overview and a hands-on experience of a profession in commercial photography. Techniques, assignment types, expectations, working conditions, types of photography products, studio procedures and equipment requirements will be discussed in detail. Simple commercial techniques will be applied in practical assignments. In-depth understanding of “Lighting” as it relates to design and aesthetics along with proper application will be discussed and demonstrated in each assignment. Students will also be given the opportunity to work “hands-on” with professional lighting equipment and cameras as they learn to use both.

This course presents a solid overview and a hands-on experience of using a professional retouching program, PhotoShop 7. Students will retouch and repair images provided as though they were actually selling these photographs to a customer. All the techniques will be covered that relate to properly retouching, color correcting, and resizing digital images on the computer. This is a “hands-on” studio class and takes place in a computer lab with each student working independently on the assignments.

This course is a solid hands-on environment of learning and training to use professional studio equipment, cameras, and computer programs to produce digital images of each students artwork. This studio-workshop class will teach each student through demonstration and practice how to effectively photograph artwork. Photographing flat art such as painting and drawings, along with three dimensional pieces such as sculpture and pottery will be covered thoroughly. Each student will have the necessary knowledge and expertise to effectively photograph these pieces for portfolios and submissions. The functions of PhotoShop 7 that relate to this special photographic practice will be covered so that images created can be sized, retouched, and finished for display.
